Southern Ground Pounders Racing Club
Race #3 Report - Wake County Speedway - Friday, May 20th, 2011

After two rainouts the Southern Ground Pounders were finally able to get a night full of racing it at the tight bullriRacing action on the tight bullring!ng they call Wake County Speedway in southern Wake County.  We ended up with 8 cars for this evening.  Two of those cars are brand new.  Ken Smith unvieled his new '66 Chevelle and Mack Tatum had a vintage '38 Ford Sedan with a lot of vintage type suspension and all in the car.  Thanks for bringing out these new machines fellas!  In this economy with money as tight as it is we all know its tight.

Wake County Speedway had 8 divisions on tap for this evening.  The personal at the speedway were very informative and generous to the drivers that have never raced at this tight and very tricky bullring.  Thank you to the track personal who took the time to help the drivers one-on-one to answer all of their questions.

Starting Lineup  Once the cars got out on the track for practice it was pretty uneventful until Rodney Dye went a little too hard into turn one and looped the car.  Once the car started to spin Rodney just turned hard left and gasses it bring his '39 Ford coupe almost all the way around in a 360 until he stopped due to oncoming traffic.  After that, everyone kept it straight and worked on getting the right line around the track.  The feature event went green to checkers so everyone brought thier cars home in one piece.  See below for the final results.  Thanks to all the drivers, car owners, and fans that came out to support the club!
